the visual arts.
Art Studio Chalkboard : an excellent site that details drawing and painting processes
such as perspective, color, depth, shading, and much more. Explanations are
detailed -- so this site is recommended for older students.
"Drawing" at InfoPlease : brief information on drawing, but good links to the topics of
etching, engraving, illustration, and lithography.
"Rock Art" at The Ancient World Web : very good links to sites that discuss cave
paintings and other forms of ancient rock art.
"Visual Arts" at ArtandCulture.com : a wonderful collection of information regarding
pre-20th Century art, 20th Century art, art criticism, photography, and tribal art.

Photography
Dr. Leggat's History of Photography : a plain, but very informative site detailing the
history of photography from its beginning through the 1920's.
"Photography" at About.com : splendid bite-sized information on almost every aspect
of photography. Great if you need quick information!

and artistic movements in photography.

Plays / Play Writing
Academic Writing: Play Reviews : solid advice on how to prepare yourself for writing a
competent review of a stage play.
"Playwrights" at Yahoo.com : a very impressive list of major playwrights from all
historical periods.
Playwrights on the Web : a good collection of links to playwrights who have their own
web sites.
Tips for Writing a Great Play : a web page that provides solid information on what
things you need to look out for when trying to write a play.

A World of Wireless : a very good site that focuses on the history of European radio.
Radio Hall of Fame : a sharply designed site that provides information on radio history
by category or disc jockey. This site deals primarily with radio in the USA.
United States Early Radio History : an excellent site for detailed historical information
on radio in the United States from the 1890's through the 1920's.

Sculpture

Television
History of Early Color Television : a site devoted to the technological evolution of color
television. As this site deals almost exclusively with hi-tech concepts, it is
recommended only for students with a HIGH degree of technological aptitude.
"Media Ownership" at the Columbia Journalism Review : Find out which
corporations own which media producers. If you want to research the frightening
concentration of corporate power in the media, this is the site for you.
Media Transparency : Learn about the political powers that try to manipulate what you
see, hear and believe -- while they keep their own ugly truths hidden! Younger
students may need parental help in order to understand the content on this site.
MediaWatch : a very useful site that reports on racial, sexual and other stereotypes
found in the media. If you want to write a critical, hard-hitting paper this is a great
place to start! Recommended.
U. S. Broadcasting History Links : many useful links to sites involving the history of
radio and television.

Museum of Woodworking Tools : contains in-depth information about a variety of
antique woodworking tools.
Woodworker's Central : an excellent site devoted to all aspects of woodworking. You
can even search for other woodworking sites through Woodworker Central's three
unique search engines. Recommended.
"Woodworking Artists" at Yahoo : an impressive collection of links to the web sites of
many of today's top woodworking sculptors.
Woodworking Links at the Woodworker's Journal : a fine collection of categorized
woodworking-related links. This is a good place to start researching the
woodworking industry in general.
