HealthWatch : this CBS-sponsored site provides up-to-date information on women's
health, heart health, the latest health and fitness news and more.

Health Care
"Health Care" from Yahoo : an impressive set of links to dozens of health
care-related sites.
HealthWorld On-line : a neat site that categorizes health issues into man, woman,
child, and more. So, here you can find health information that is related directly to
gender, age and so forth.
United States Department of Health and Human Services : A very good site for U.S.
citizens and students who are looking for general health information as well as
health inititives that are sponsored by the U.S. government.

Health Discrimination
Genetic Discrimination : this Gene Watch site provides general information on the
threats to fair health care that are posed by genetic discrimination. Here, you'll also
find interesting info on cloning and predictive testing.
Institute on Race, Health Care, and the Law : a good site to find information on
health discrimination issues involving minorities and Native Americans. You may
need to do quite a bit of searching on this site to find what you're looking for -- but
it's here!

Heart Disease
American Heart Association (AHA.) : here, you can find information on anything
related to heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, and heart health.
Heart Disease and Stroke : this NOAH site offers an incredible number of good links to
sites that cover every aspect of heart disease and related problems. The large
number of links may scare you a bit at first, but if you scroll through them carefully,
you'll find many superb heart disease-related resources. Recommended.
Heart Disease from About.com : a great place to start your research on heart disease!
This page contains a small, but very good collection of links that hit on a number of
major areas involving heart disease. Recommended.
HeartInfo.org. : here you will find all kinds of good, easy-to-understand information about
heart disease and how to take action to prevent it.

CNN.com Health : get the latest headline news regarding health-related breakthroughs,
treatments, and policies.
Health and Medicine News from ScienceDaily.com : get daily health-related news in
many subjects from this very informative and useful site!
World Health News from the Harvard School of Public Health : a magnificent resource
that provides health-related news from around the world. Highly recommended.

Health Statistics
Children's Safety Network's Injury Data : get child injury information for any state in
the USA. Note that much of the information is in the form of charts and that some --
but not all -- of the charts require that you own Microsoft (tm) Excel to view them.
Drug Abuse Statistics from SAMHSA : a good site to get general statistical information
about drug abuse, tobacco use, alcohol use and more. For advanced students.
Health Statistics from FedStat : get statistics on major sicknesses, divorce, heart
disease, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy, and much more. If you
want some easy-to-understand health statistics to spice up your homework, this is
a good place to start!
National Center for Health Statistics : a great site to find all kinds of statistics
regarding birth and death rates, diseases, pregnancy and more. Note that some
statistics are available only in downloadable documents.
National Institute on Drug Abuse : get information on the percentage of the U. S.
population that uses illegal drugs. You can also find how many dollars per year are
lost in worker productivity because of drug abuse. Recommended.
Safety and Health Statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics : find just about any
statistical information you can think of that's related to job-related injuries or
illnesses. This is not the easiest site to navigate, but it has lots of great info. So, it's
worth it to browse through it despite its clunky site design.
World Health Organization Health Statistics : a terrific collection of links where you
can find health statistics regarding different countries and regions. A bit
overwhelming but very useful. Recommended.

History (Health and Medicine)
Ancient Medicine from the University of Virginia : a small, but informative site detailing
some of the major medical procedures and events from the ancient Greeks
and Romans.
Specific Topics in the History of Medicine : a terrific set of links to dozens of
resources dealing with the history of medicine. You may spend some time finding
links regarding your topic, but the time will be well spent. The site is viewable in
English and in Dutch. Recommended.

HIV / AIDS
AIDS and Young People : a blunt, but useful explanation of teen sexuality and the
odds of becoming infected with HIV / AIDS. This site involves mature themes and
candid language so parents may want to read through it first...
AIDS Fact Sheets from AIDS.org : get good, quick information about AIDS, AIDS
prevention, opportunistic infections, and more. Note that all of these fact sheets are
written so that you don't have to be a doctor to understand them! Recommended.
ARIC's AIDS Medical Image Gallery : a nice collection of AIDS-related drawings and
paintings that you can download and use. Each drawing or painting also has
accompanying text that explains what's being shown! Very good.
HIV / AIDS Information Center : this site from the Journal of the American Medical
Association give you the latest HIV / AIDs news and support information. And
excellent resource! Highly recommended.

Human Body
Gray's Anatomy from Bartleby.com : an awesome reference site for the study of various
areas of the human body. Here, you will find many of those cool black and white
body part images that made Gray's Anatomy THE anatomy book to read. Note that
the descriptive text may be a bit too scientific for younger students.
Recommended.
Health from BrainPOP : a great site that offers on-line quizzes and streaming
educational movies that teach you the basics about all kinds of stuff about the
human body. Highly recommended.
Human Anatomy and Body Systems : a terrific place to start your research into human
body systems. This site provides well-described links to some of the best human
body-related links on the web. Recommended.
"Human Body" from KidInfo : a very impressive and well-categorized set of links to
human body-related web resources. This is a very good place to start your
research.
Human Body On-line : a well-done interactive exploration of the body. This site is
ideal for middle school students.
Human Body Systems from Gander Academy : a very useful set of links to resources
on the human digestive system, the respiratory system, and other body systems.
Note that a few links may not work. Still, there's so much here that does work and
is useful that it deserves a try.
Virtual Body from Medtropolis.com : a really cool interactive exploration of brain,
skeleton, heart, and digestive tract. Your browser must be Shockwave-enabled to
use this interactive presentation.
