National Agriculture Statistics Service (US) : a good source for agriculture-related
statistics, charts, graphics, state information, and agricultural history.
Recommended.
U. S. Department of Agriculture : the official web site of the United Stated Department of
      Agriculture. A great source for all kinds of news and facts related to America's
      agricultural initiatives.

Animals / Zoology

Animal Bytes : a fun site sponsored by Sea World/Busch Gardens. Here you can very
quickly find general information on many of the most popular types of wild animals.
Great for middle school students!
Animal Diversity Web : here, you can search easily for detailed information on almost
any animal in the world. This site doesn't have a lot of fancy graphics, but the quality
of its information is second to none! Recommended.
Animals and Zoology : a very simple page from which younger students can launch their
search for a wide variety of animal-related information.
Dinosauricon : a really cool site devoted to educating people about dinosaurs. Here, you
can find dinosaur facts, images, and links. Very good.
Dinosaur Guide : presented by the Discovery Channel, this site provides good
      information on prehistoric life, fossils, and the origin of humans.
eNature Field Guides : a very good site that provides good, concise descriptions of many
animals -- and you can get pictures of those animals too! Recommended.
Endangered Species : an excellent site where you can find information on animals
that are threatened by extinction. The "Getting Started" section on this site will take
you to some of the best places on the Net for endangered species information.
Recommended.
Endangered Species at WorldWildlife.org : a great site that provides lots of good,
well-written info on animals that are endangered. Be sure to click the "Other Species"
link for a longer listing of endangered species.
Fish F. A. Q. : Do fish sleep? Do fish chew their food? How do clams reproduce? These
and dozens of other cool questions about sea life are answered here. And be sure to
click this site's "Even more Fish Facts here..." link! Good.
Goof Gallery : Here's a fun site, one devoted to the mistakes that scientists have made in
the past when trying to figure out what prehistoric animals looked like. This is good,
humorous, true stuff that you can use to spice up your homework paper!
Insectclopedia : a terrific resource for finding out all kind of facts on almost any type of
insect anywhere. This site has tons of insect-related info! Recommended.
Net-Frog : a really cool, on-line frog dissection tutorial. If you're sqeamish about dissecting
real a real frog, then this site is for you as you can dissect a "virtual frog" instead! Note
that you may need to download the QuickTime plug-in (provided for free) in order to use
this site. Also note that you still may get grossed out with the dissection that takes
place on this site. So, if you want a more "cartoony" on-line dissection, we
recommend that you try the less explicit Virtual Frog Dissection Kit instead
of Net-Frog.
Prehistoric Life : a good site for younger students. Here you will find dozens of
short summaries about prehistoric animals. Each summary has its own black and
       white picture of the animal being described.. 
Virtual Insects : a fun site where you can view computerized 3D models of insects! If you
have a in-class report on insects, popping this site up on your classroom computer
would be awesome! Be sure to play with the VRML buttons on this site -- they're a
total blast!
Walking With Dinosaurs : the official web site of the superb TV special of the same
name. This gorgeous site has tons of dinosaur-related information. Recommended.

people believe about planets, stars and other heavenly bodies. Useful site for
creating a report that will straighten out mis-guided minds!
Beyond Our Skies : a very useful site that provides easy-to-understand explanations of
fundamental astronomy concepts.
Nine Planets : a totally awesome site that's filled with LOTS of detailed information about
our solar system, it's planets, comets, asteroids, and much, much more. This site is
well worth your time! Highly recommended.
"Planets" from Yahoo : from this index, you can quickly jump to sites that provide
information on anything you want to know about planets.
X-ray and Gamma Ray Astronomy Tutorial: a very nice on-line tutorial that teaches you
all the basics of how x-rays and gamma rays are used to understand the workings of
the universe. And more good news -- the tutorial is written for persons who DON'T
have a technical or scientific background.

Biology
Biology from About.com : a good set of search links that you can use to go to some of the
better biology-related web sites. Be sure to use the links in the "Subjects" sidebar for
leaping to many useful biology resources. Recommended.
Biology from InfoPlease.com : This tiny biology section on InfoPlease contains really good
links to all sorts of good general information about general biology, cell biology,
and genetics.
Biology Project : the University of Arizona's outstanding interactive resource
for learning the basics about biology. Recommended.
Biomes : very good overall information about all of the world's major biomes (environments
as defined by their generally adapted plants and organisms). Well worth a visit.  
Frank Potter's Science Gems: Life Sciences 1 & 2 : a great collection of sites
devoted to biology and the life sciences. An fine resource for all students!
Origins of Life on Earth : a solid collection of links to sites that provide good, scientific
insight into how life started on Earth.

Botany (Plants)
Botany.com : It's not the easiest site to navigate but, if you know the name of a plant
you want to do some research on, this site can provide great info on it!
Botany WWW Sites : probably the most comprehensive listing of botany sites on the
World Wide Web. The "Kid's Educational Resources" on this page are particularly
useful for young students who need botany-related homework help.
Plants from Yahoo : a great place to start your web surfing for information on plants.
U. S. Department of Agriculture Plants Database : a very informative site where you
can find information on invasive plants, plants that are endangered, and more.
Note that this site focuses on plants located in the USA and its territories.

Chemistry
Balancing Equations and Reaction Types : This ChemTeam web page may not be
much to look at, but it has crystal clear explanations on how to balance chemical
equations. Even better, the example problems all come with well-explained solutions!
Betha Chemistry Tutorial : a well-made on-line tutorial that provides really good
instruction on gas laws and how to balance chemical equations. This site even uses
some cool Shockwave animation to help you to visualize certain chemistry concepts.
And don't be scared away by the fact that Betha is run by a major university -- the
site's content is perfect for high schoolers! Recommended.
Interactive Tutorial on Balancing Equations : here's a very well-done step-by-step
tutorial on how to balance chemical equations.
Kinetic Molecular Theory and Gas Laws Table of Contents : another very informative
web page from ChemTeam. Here, you'll find easy-to-understand explanations of all
the major laws of gases.

understanding the chemical concept called the "mole," then stop by this page -- it
explains everything!

Computers and High Tech
C-Net High Technology News : learn about the latest developments in computers,
technology, and the high tech market.
CNN.com Technology News : daily reports of the biggest stories in high technology,
computing, space, and more.
History of the Internet : a very nicely designed site that provides a well-written history of
the Internet that includes pictures and graphics of key developments in its history.
How Stuff Works: Computers and the Internet : find out how computers, mice, the
Internet, web cams, and a ton of other high tech stuff works! Great information here
for any homework project that deals with computing and technology! Note that you'll
need to use the left sidebar on this site's page to get to the good stuff.
